The Process

Visiting Bhutan is not your usual process ...You don't just step off the plane, clear customs, pick up your car rental and off you go ... it takes a great deal of planning, but it is well worth the effort. Bhutan has a tourism policy of 'High Value-Low Impact' and in order to accomplish this, every visitor is encouraged to arrange their visit through a licensed Bhutanese tour company. And that’s where Honu Adventures and its partner Gomo Adventures comes in.

We are here to facilitate your amazing adventure. Visiting Bhutan is a very hands-on experience, but making the arrangements, including selecting a licensed Bhutanese tour company, and with over 300 companies to choose from, it can be daunting, but we will do our best to keep things simple for you. We partner with Gomo Adventures, led by the very experienced and knowledgeable Punap Ugyen Wangchuk, for everything in country, including arranging your Bhutanese travel visa.

The cost of a tour to Bhutan varies depending on when and how long you visit. On average, a 10-day tour costs about the same as you would pay for a cruise ... starting at around $4,500 plus air fare. Although it may seem high, remember, it is a high-value vacation. From the time you step off the plane at Paro International Airport, until your guide waves goodbye, you are well taken care of. The fee covers almost everything … your visa, hotels, food, transportation in country, a driver and, best of all, your incredibly knowledgeable and friendly guide. The only thing you will be responsible for is getting there (we will book your flight from Bangkok to Paro), any souvenirs you buy, laundry, alcohol and any other sundries you may need, such as sunscreen.
